This session was presented at the October 4 coaching clinic. Pattern play is used by coaches to offer players passing options and combinations that can be used within the actual game. The coach will give players a specific pattern in which to pass the ball and players will make the pass in the specified sequence. The problem with traditional pattern play is that players do not follow the pattern and pass the ball in a manner that is consistent to the demands they face in the actual game. Often times players are to casual in their passes and do not fully concentrate because there is little to no opposition. This session provided players the best of both worlds. Through unlimited pattern play, players were given autonomy for their own decisions as that is consistent to the demands players face in the actual game. The more possession the attacking was able to hold the more demands and opposition were added.

This session was presented at the August 17 coaching clinic. The demonstration group was the U10 boys from the Glen Ed Soccer Club. This session demonstrated activities in which to improve young players technique. Many times, coaches train technique in isolation through repetitive drills, rather than incorporate technical training in conjunction with awareness/perception and decision making. At the conclusion of the session coaches were exposed to several activities that enable their players to refine and improve their technical deficiencies while being presented with the same types of decisions they will face during a match.

This session was presented at the September 28 coaching clinic. The demonstration group was a combination of the U8 and U9 boys from St. Louis Scott Gallagher-Illinois. This session provided coaches a variety of ways in which to improve their player's ability to make and receive a pass while maintaining possession to provide the basis for combining.
